A few months ago, Traveller’s Tales released LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes, a wonderful addition to the LEGO videogame series. DC Comics fans loved it for the ability to play through Gotham as Batman, Superman, and forty-eight other DC Comics heroes and villains. Marvel Comics fans, on the other hand, stared piteously at their consoles and mourned their lack of Wolverine. Mourn no longer. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes will be hitting your screen some time in Fall 2013.
LEGO games have been nothing but fun, and LEGO Lord of the Rings is no exception. It’s not a perfect game, but with adorable characters spouting dialog like, “I can’t carry it for you. But I can carry you” it’s absolutely a great showcase for what makes both LEGO and Lord of the Rings great entertainment. Travellers Tales can be proud of the fact that they released not one but two excellent games in 2012 (this and LEGO Batman 2), games with minor flaws that detract only slightly from a genuinely enjoyable experience.
My husband and I have been playing through LEGO Lord of the Rings, and my review is coming shortly. But until then, I’ve figured out a way to give you a sense of what to look forward to…by sharing some quotes that I jotted down while taking notes on gameplay.
Usually, when a game trailer consists solely of cutscenes, it makes me suspicious: If the cutscenes are that much more cinematic and interesting than the gameplay, then someone is doing something wrong.
