Aliens: Colonial Marines (A:CM) is a videogame that received mostly poor reviews when it was released on February 12, 2013. Star Trek is a videogame that received mostly poor reviews when it was released last week. As they’re both based on science fiction movies and they both have co-op play, they compare well to each other. And having spent time with both, I find that A:CM is the better game.
Did you feel cheated that the long-promised Aliens: Colonial Marines under-delivered on graphics? Do you think the game looked more like a project from 2003, particularly after the trailers were up-to-the-minute 2013? If so, you’re not alone. But recently at least one outraged UK fan took matters up the food chain, all the way to the UK Advertising Standards Authority.
When Aliens: Colonial Marines (A:CM) came out last month, the FPS was lambasted by many critics for glitchy AI and low-fi graphics. I was apparently one of the few who could look past this, because Lance Henriksen and xeno spree killing. Still, I had hopes that the game would be patched, if only because demo footage showed a much better version of the game existed…somewhere. It turns out there’s a very good (or […]
After playing Aliens: Colonial Marines (ACM) I learned that the two sweetest words in the English language are “Checkpoint reached.” You’ll learn that too once you’ve crawled your way through each level, danger coming at you from every angle. You also learn to be acutely aware of every shadow, every ping on your motion tracker. But if you ignore even the—AUGH!
In anticipation of the February 12, 2013, release date, Sega America has put out a two-and-a-half minute trailer for Aliens: Colonial Marines. Sega is calling this the “Aliens: Colonial Marines Contact Trailer Extended Cut.” I’m calling this the bleakest, most depressing game trailer I’ve seen.
SEGA and Gearbox have announced the release date for Aliens: Colonial Marines. It’s not great news, soldiers. Human-on-xenomorph action won’t commence until February 12, 2013 for the XBox, PS3, and PC, while the Wii U’s release date is still TBD. This means we have a whole nine months of wait time before we can get our hands on the aliens who are trying to get their hands (and other parts) on (and in) us.
