I’m enjoying Guild Wars 2 (GW2) for its gorgeous graphics and its non-stop adventure. But playing GW2 has resulted in a strange side effect: It’s making me hungry. That’s because whenever I use the discovery tab to find new recipes, I think, “Mmm…tasty.”
I’m not the only one. In this GW2 Reddit thread, “Cooking Has Ruined Me,” Redditor Acromir describes how excited he was to find the vendor who sold celery. “[T]here’s this voice in the back of my head saying ‘You could be fighting dragons… why are you spending so much time trying to figure out what goes with tomatoes, lemon, and onion?’”
Because these foods give your character some much-needed buffs, that’s why. (Also, it’s nifty.) But why only craft these recipes digitally when I give myself some much-needed vitality and duration? I figure it’s time to stop with the crafting and get with the eating.
Of course I don’t know how to cook. So I asked the best cook I know for help: my mother. She came up with recipes for Ascalonian salad, spiced mashed yams, stuffed peppers, and chocolate bananas based on GW2′s ingredients.
These are GW2 foods you can discover (make) in your own crafting station (kitchen). And you don’t have to be crafting level 200 to do it.
Note:
In GW2: Ascalonian salad requires a crafting level of 125 and gives you nourishment (30m): 28% to gain swiftness when you kill a foe, and +10 Experience from kills. In the real world: This took moderate skill, and the yummy salad gave me a +10 boost to my happiness.
In GW2: A bowl of spiced mashed yams requires a crafting level of 150 and gives you Nourishment (30 m) -24% stun duration, +40 toughness, and +10 experience from kills. In the real world: This took moderate skill, and the carbs increased my energy level.
In GW2: Stuffed peppers requires a crafting level of 100 and gives you Nourishment (30m): 16% chance to cause might on critical during the day, and +10 Experience from kills. In the real world: This took moderate skill, and the protein gave me a bonus to my endurance.
In GW2: Chocolate bananas requires a skill level of 75 and gives you nourishment (30m): 7% magic find while under the effect of a boon, and +10 Experience from kills. In the real world: This took discipline to not eat the chocolate outright, and it gave me the incredible magical power of dopamine.
