Usually, when a game trailer consists solely of cutscenes, it makes me suspicious: If the cutscenes are that much more cinematic and interesting than the gameplay, then someone is doing something wrong. But in the case of the LEGO Lord of the Rings launch trailer, I’m absolutely fine with it. I’m fact, I’m positively tickled.
Despite there being absolutely no gameplay here in this trailer, there are multiple cutscenes full of the humor I’ve come to love with each and every Lego game. If LEGO Lord of the Rings plays like every other LEGO videogame, we already know what to expect: adorable characters, gentle humor, and bricks that break apart with an entertaining “crish” noise.
