Do you know that 10,468 kilograms of equipment was sent to Croatia to film parts of Game of Thrones? What about the number of crewmembers—did you know there are 703 of them? No? That’s because you haven’t read HBO’s report, “Season 3: By the Numbers.” In it, we learn all sorts of facts about the upcoming season, which follows the first half George R.R. Martin’s lengthy novel, A Storm of Swords. Here are a few tidbits.
– Crew charter planes: 3
– Number of cast names: 257
– Leather and fur in all costumes: 31,653.72 square feet
– Average scenes filmed per day: 6 2/8
And the most important news of all:
– Filming weeks left: 7
Seven weeks isn’t that far away…and considering that these production notes were written October 5 but not published by HBO until November 2, this means there are actually only three weeks left.
Of course, the crew has several months of post-production, such as special effects, the musical, and editing, to take care of before the show is ready for its ardent fans. But now we know we’re that much closer to the start of season 3, March 31, 2013.
