Back in August, Joss Whedon signed a three-year contract with Marvel to direct a sequel to the hit film, The Avengers, as well as a television series, Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. The movie may be three years away, but the pilot may be ready to start filming sooner than you might think.
According to SuperHeroHype, Joss may be sitting in the director’s chair as soon as January, for a possible series in Fall 2013. He will also be one of the co-writers, along with his collaborators, brother Jed Whedon and sister-in-law Maurissa Tancharoen.
When Joss isn’t directing and writing, he and his co-writers also be executive producing the show. They will be joined by Jeffery Bell, a writer/director on The X-Files and Angel, and Jeph Loeb, a producer and writer for Smallville.
The talents of Whedons, plus the minds behind The X-Files, Angel, and Smallville? It’s like my geek dreams are coming true.
No, all of that plus starring roles from Alexis Denishof, Amy Acker, and Summer Glau. That would be my dreams come true.
