Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins has put her finger on why we love the DC superhero so much: It’s because she’s kind and good and can punch a city block in the face.

Patty Jenkins, as well as stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, shared their thoughts about the upcoming superhero film in the one-off special DC Films Presents: Dawn of The Justice League, which was hosted by Kevin Smith (Clerks; Comic Book Men) and Geoff Johns (chief creative officer, DC Comics).

And their thoughts can be boiled down to, “This origin story will be amazeballs.”

It seems that the Amazons, including Diana, were created to protect humanity. Instead, the Amazons turned their backs on us. Diana, however, wants to use her empathy and martial skills to help us out.

And we need all the help we can get: Wonder Woman takes place during World War I, inaccurately referred to as “the great war” and “the war to end all wars.” (Eighteen million soldiers and civilians died during WWI. If ever we needed saving, it was then.)

In these brief clips, we get Diana both in training and in the grim world of the battlefront. What we don’t get? Dialog. The only voices we hear are of Smith and Johns. And they’re just as excited as we are.

Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot, Robin Wright, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, and David Thewlis. The film will be released in the States on June 23, 2017.
