‘BioShock Infinite’ City in the Sky Trailer Is Strangely Familiar and Just Plain Strange

The more trailers I see of BioShock Infinite, the more I’m champing at the bit to get to this game. This “City in the Sky” trailer gives us more of the weird and wonderful world that I want to explore. There’s a great deal that looks strangely familiar to BioShock fans, and there’s a great deal that’s just plain strange.

Joanna Cassidy Discusses Her Dancing Video and the ‘Blade Runner’ Scene That Never Was

Thirty years ago, actress Joanna Cassidy, who played the replicant Zhora in Blade Runner, was supposed to have had a dancing scene with an artificial snake, but the scene was never shot. Recently, she made up for it by producing her own version of that snake dance, made with director and producer Tamela D’Amico. (Previously they had collaborated on a web series called Sex Ed.)

‘Doctor Who’ Biopic Travels Back to 1963 to Show Us the Making of a Time Lord

‘Doctor Who’ Biopic Travels Back to 1963 to Show Us the Making of a Time Lord

Doctor Who wasn’t the first science fiction show in Britain, but it is the longest lasting. And it started with a feasibility study back in March 1962. I know this because I read it in Wikipedia. But we’re going to learn about this—and much more—in the upcoming made-for-TV movie, An Adventure in Space and Time, about the origins of the television show.

Is 2000 AD’s Judge Dredd Gay?

Is 2000 AD’s Judge Dredd Gay?

In an upcoming issue of 2000 AD–the long-running weekly British comic book that should be a part of every comic lover’s collection—we see Judge Dredd kissing a man with a green mohawk. The implication that the helmeted judge/jury/executioner of all things illegal in Mega-City One could be gay, or at least bi-curious, is enough to set comic book message boards ablaze with sadly typical homophobic ranting. But other fans are grumbling for a different reason altogether.

BioShock Infinite’s New Trailer Goes ‘Dharma Initiative’

BioShock Infinite’s New Trailer Goes ‘Dharma Initiative’

The trailers for BioShock Infinite are coming fast and furious now that the March 26, 2013, launch is a short skyhook journey away. The most recent one, “Columbia: A Modern Day Icarus?” is unlike the others we’ve seen, and not just because it’s a cinematic trailer with no gameplay. This one particularly differs because it has the same 1960s/1970s look and feel that we saw in the Dharma Initiative videos in the TV show Lost (2004-2010).

How ‘Return of the Jedi’ Should Have Ended

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi ended on many happy notes: The rebels won. The second Death Star was destroyed. Darth Vader killed the Emperor and forswore the Dark Side. But just because the ending was happy doesn’t mean everyone was happy about it. YouTubers HISHEdotcom believe that they have the ending that makes the [...]

Overheard at a Screening of ‘Spartacus’ (with Lucy Lawless and Steven DeKnight)

Overheard at a Screening of ‘Spartacus’ (with Lucy Lawless and Steven DeKnight)

When I told some friend on Facebook that I was going to see the first episode of the last season of Spartacus and meet actress Lucy Lawless (Lucretia), I was shocked by how many people wanted to make out with her. Straight men. Gay women. Straight women. Gay men. They all wanted to pucker up to the former warrior princess, and they all wanted photos and autographs. Sad to say, I didn’t get within autograph distance, or even kissing distance. But I did get to know a bit about the characters of the Starz television show and some of the actors who play them.

Blade Runner Actress Films Her Missing Scene after 30 Years

As fans of the 1982 movie Blade Runner know, Joanna Cassidy played Zhora, one of the Nexus-6 models who thinks that seeing the C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate isn’t nearly as important as extending her life beyond its four-year expiration date. Zhora was retired quickly. Too quickly. It seems that Zhora had one scene that, “due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control,” went unfilmed. So Cassidy, righting that dreadful wrong, has filmed it herself.
